Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com essential recording
The appeal of this album isn't limited to children--though the gentle repertoire and soft acoustic musical accompaniment will surely soothe little ones at the end of a long day, adults will find the silky-smooth vocals, beautiful harmonies, and creative production just as engaging. Parents will enjoy listening to the metamorphosis of Loggins's 1969 Top 40 hit "House on Pooh Corner" to the updated '90s version. And with titles like the traditional "All the Pretty Little Ponies" and "To-Ra-Loo-Ra" and covers of Paul Williams's "Rainbow Connection," Jimmy Webb's "The Last Unicorn," and John Lennon's "Love," Mom might find herself borrowing this CD from the nursery when it comes time to kick back and relax after the kids are asleep. --Deborah Moore

Album Description
Here is a collection of some of my favorite children's songs covering my many years of being a dad. I consider these mostly classic compositions, beautiful and simple; some written for movies, some haunting standards and a few written by contemporary singers for their own children. Of all the things my kids and I have done together, the quiet times of night-songs and bedtime snuggles will endure as my most precious memories. I can still see Crosby's face as a little one begging me for "more, Daddy, more, more" of "Winnie The Pooh" (as he called it), or rocking Cody to "To-Ra-Loo-Ra" (if he didn't fall asleep before we made it to his bedroom). And it's not over yet. I'm still singing to Isabella and on into the future to Luke. And I'm loving it. They're my best audience, even if my only applause is the deep slow breathing of a sleeping baby. Delicious. So at long last, the work of a lifetime. Here are the songs I sing to my children...should I say "part one"?

I realize from the large amount of reviews for this CD that everyone loves Return to Pooh Corner. It is wonderful to relax and unwind to. Babies, children, and adults love it. For the shopper who hasn't actually seen the CD cover, here are the songs listed on it:

1. All the Pretty Little Ponies (with background vocals from David Crosby and Graham Nash)

2. Neverland Medley: Somewhere Out There/Never Never Land/ Pure Imagination (Gene Wilder reprises his voice as Willy Wonka at the begining of Pure Imagination)

3. Return to Pooh Corner (Kenny originally wrote this song as a high school senior as a farewell to childhood. Now he rearranged it and added more lyrics)

4. Rainbow Connection (from the Muppet Movie)

5. St. Judy's Comet (written by Paul Simon)

6. The Last Unicorn

7. Cody's Song (Written by Kenny Loggins for his son Cody)

8. The Horses

9. Love (written by John Lennon)

10. To-Ra-Loo-Ra (a traditional Irish Lullaby)

I can't say enough about this CD. It gives me the warm Fuzzys. My 76 year-old mother also commented several times how much she liked this CD. This CD pampers the souls of young and old alike.

5 out of 5 stars Great Musical Tribute to Childhood!   July 5, 2000

A friend gave this cd to me several years ago. I've always liked Kenny Loggin's music, so I feel in love with this album. A cd full of beloved lullabies, it's great for adults, babies and kids alike. When my brother and sister- in- law were still expecting their baby, I bought them this cd. They loved it too! After my nephew was finally born in May, they continue to play it. I think he recognized the music because his Mommy and Daddy played it so much when he was still in the womb...haha ...but it's true. It's relaxing and I love the artists that join Loggins in his musical tribute to childhood...David Crosby, Graham Nash, Patti Austin, David Benoit, Gene Wilder, Amy Grant, Gary Chapman, and Chet Akins. When I listen to it, it reminds me of my own childhood....those carefree, fun, innocent days. All The Pretty Little Ponies is just beautiful, as is The Last Unicorn, Love (written by John Lennon and one of my favorites), and the Irish lullaby, To-Ra-Loo-Ra. Rainbow Connection brings back memories of Kermit the Frog, sitting on a log in his pond, with his banjo, singing this ditty. Cody's Song, which Loggins wrote for his son, is very touching - a song every parent can relate to. The Neverland Medley, which includes Somewhere Out There, Never Never Land, and Pure Imagination, is a beautiful duet featuring Loggins and Austin. It's a really enjoyable and soothing cd!

5 out of 5 stars THE BEST CD I EVER BOUGHT!   November 18, 1999

I first heard the song "Return to Pooh Corner" on the radio when I was pregnant, and it hit me very close to home (I had an invisible friend as a child named "Christopher Robin" I loved Pooh so much, my son's nursery is decorated in Pooh). My mother and I had just been discussing C-Robin two days earlier, and it was so wonderful, I sat and started crying. Almost immediately, I located a copy to copy, and that poor tape and I were friends my entire pregnancy. I played it ever night to sleep with. When my son was born, I would play it, and he would instantly lie and be calm (wonder why?). As soon as I could I bought a copy of the CD and it was played instead just as much. I am purchasing a replacement for it from Amazon! I didn't know CD's could wear out. It's a terrific CD for adults and children. The Rainbow connection brought back so many memories of my love of the muppets, the Willy Wonka song made me laugh, for I still knew all the words, and the Last Unicorn haunted me. I still love this music very much, and there are still times "Pooh" makes me cry, yet, esp. watching my son sleep with his own Pooh bear.

5 out of 5 stars FIVE STARS IS NOT ENOUGH! HOW ABOUT TEN STARS!   June 2, 2001

If you have children, of any age from birth through adolescence, YOU NEED THIS CD. I purchased this CD for my 8 month old daughter. It has been playing, over and over thanks to that option on the CD player in her nursery, since I got it - a week ago. My wife starting singing along with songs she hadn't heard since she was a little girl. She commented "I didn't know that would be on there". They ended up dancing together, daughter in mom's arms.

This begins with "ALL THE PRETTY LITTLE PONIES". Anybody who has never heard this song has been cheated from one of life's simplist pleasures.

"NEVERLAND MEDLEY" is all of Peter Pan, Never-Never land, "Willie Wonka", children's dreams, fantasy, sugar, spice, and everything nice all rolled into one.

Anybody who is old enough to remember LOGGINS & MESSINA will remember "RETURN TO POOH CORNER".

"RAINBOW CONNECTION", "ST JUDY'S COMET", "THE LAST UNICORN", and "THE HORSES" are beautiful renditions of songs our mother's used to sing us to sleep to.

"CODY'S SONG", "LOVE", and "TO-RA-LOO-RA" will be new to us. They are very personal writings from Kenny to his son Cody, but apply to us all.

Filled with ponies, horses, candy, "Peter Pan", "Winnie The Pooh", "Roo", "Tigger" too, and lullabies our mother's sang. What else could someone hope for. I want my daughter to sleep to, and encourage her dreams to, these songs. Forget the CLASSICAL MUSIC, buy this CD. In fact, Kenny has another CD titled "More Songs From Pooh Corner". If it's only half as good as this one is, it'll deserve a five star rating, and will be on my soon-to-be purchased list.

THANK YOU, KENNY LOGGINS, FROM ME AND MY WHOLE FAMILY. YOUR GIFT CAN, AND HAS, CHANGED THE WORLD - ONE FAMILY AT A TIME.

I bought this CD because I love the song "Return to Pooh Corner". I thought the rest of the album would be so-so- I have to say it is the best investment I have made in a while. My 2 1/2 year old had fought sleep since the day he was born. I started playing this CD to calm him down and he is usually asleep by the third song. I especially love the first 5 songs. St. Judy's Comet gives me chills. I recommend it to anyone!
